Consumer protection is central to the work of the IPW who liaise directly with the Office of Public Guardian, the Legal Services Board and the Chartered Trading Standards Institute to raise and enforce standards across the sector.

Amy Peters comments “As an established estate planning business operating for over 20 years, we are keen to support the raising of professional standards across the profession and to provide an opportunity for practitioners to come together and share learning opportunities and experiences. Our regional meetings are open to IPW members but also non-members who have a professional interest in the delivery of will writing and estate planning services.”

Marcos Kallou, IPW Governing Council member comments “I am delighted to welcome Amy Peters on board as the IPW’s new Regional Coordinator for East Midlands. These regional meetings allow IPW members and non-IPW members alike, to get together on a regular basis, to listen to industry updates and to professional , relevant speakers. The meetings are cost effective, local, friendly and a valuable tool for those working in, or associated with, the Estate Planning profession”

It’s estimated that two thirds of the UK population do not have a will and over the next 30 years it is anticipated that a generational wealth of £5.5 trillion will be passed down the generations. Whilst an expected inheritance could be on the way for many, there may be unrealistic expectations as to what will actually be received without the correct planning in place. Additionally, with a UK population of approx. 12.5million over the age of 65, less than 1 million Lasting Powers of Attorney are currently registered with the Office of Public Guardian.

If you are interested in attending the next IPW East Midlands regional meeting, please contact Amy Peters on enquiries@btwc.co.uk
